The largest city on the Central Coast is Gosford, which lies at the northern end of Brisbane Waters. This is an inlet of the Hawkesbury River system and can be accessed by boat through a narrow passage that enters the Central coast at Umina Beach near Woy Woy. Brisbane Water is a magnificent waterway and provides Central Coast residents with a beautiful facility for sailing, boating and fishing. The Central coast is connected to Sydney by train and also one of Australia’s best motorway systems.

To the north of Gosford is the Tuggerah Lakes system which opens to the ocean at The Entrance. This is a large lake system which again gives the locals and visitors alike, the opportunity for engaging in all different types of water sports. The region has now grown into a busy residential area with shopping malls and industrial areas. Places like Toukley, Gorakan, Doyleson, Budgewoi, The Entrance and Killarney Vale are now home to tens of thousands of residents.
